For sale: 1x Canon 40D body and all accessories. £425 incl insured P+P by Parcelforce 48. First bought on 23 April 2009 and since I bought it, about a month ago it went back to Canon for a repair under warranty and full service under warranty. It therefore has a 6-month warranty on it valid from 2nd December 2009 til 2nd May 2009. According to astrojargon.net/EOSInfo.aspx it has taken 16923 photos (sorry I HATE 'shutter actuations' ) Original box is probably not worth having but all accessories are included: Canon Battery & Mains charger USB Cable AV Cable Canon strap (used) but can supply a new Op/tech strap with it if required. Software disk Pocket & full manuals Also will obviously include the original purchase receipt and new repair confirmation. PM me for any more info - can be picked up for £10 less around Burford / Faringdon area. Cold hard cash, cheque or Paypal accepted. ATB Dave.

Why yes of course... providing it's got £400 in it or a credit or debit card for Paypal payment of that amount.

Thanks for asking!

Right, just to hoof this back to the top, £400 for the body incl 5GB of Sandisk CF cards and postage if necessary.

Can post pics of it if anyone wants.

Collection from the Brize / Burford / Faringdon area or alternatively from 6-10 March from the NEC if anyone is visiting the Focus on Imaging show.

When this one has gone (body only) it will allow me to continue my pursuit of a new body and as soon as that has been acomplished there is highly likely to be another 40D either with or without the BG-E2 grip for sale.

Hi Jon,

really depends on what you mean by a GP lens.

Something to sit on the camera for everyday use such as the 18-55 'kit' lens can be found on ebay for generally secondhand for £50 or less and you can then add more £££ for more 'reach' or quality (eg the 17-85mm IS will set you back just under £400).
If you want something for airshows, then a good starter lens would be the Canon 75-300 USM III lens which goes secondhand for about £80-£120 depending on condition. There is a more expensive IS version which I think is supposed to have slightly better optics but again you'll start increasing the outlay. I did 3 years with the 75-300 before upgrading - 1 year with an EOS 5 film body and then 2 years with the 20D.

And then just to confuse everything, there's Sigma lenses which are on the whole excellent - for example their 70-300 APO lens is generally agreed to be marginally better optically than the 75-300 USM but again the price will reflect this.

HTH
Dave.
